Small business represents 90% of total data breaches

Restaurant, retail, and lodging locations represent 74% of total data breaches. Cyber criminals target these small businesses because they lack the technology, resources, and knowledge to stop cyber theft.

Retail franchise chains are especially attractive to cyber criminals. After the first location is compromised, it becomes easier and more likely for additional locations to incur a data breach.

Despite this evidence, many small business owners do not fully understand the threat or believe that data breach will happen to them.
